Burn Survivor Resource Community Announces Advisory Board Members

Thursday, April 21, 2016

The Burn Survivor Resource Community, the largest online community of burn survivors, has created an Advisory Board to further serve their community.

The Advisory Board will provide burn survivors with information, resources and guidance in their respective areas of expertise.

The announcement, made in a community mailing, emphasized the unique qualifications of each member. "We are proud to introduce each member to you and look forward to continuing to build a strong and helpful online community that burn survivors can turn to any hour of the day or night, to know they are not alone and that their burn injuries do not define them,” says Burn Survivor Resource Communications Coordinator, Nancy Gruen.

The Burn Survivor Community’s members come from all walks of life. They come together to support one another in their healing process, by sharing their stories of tragedy and triumph.

Each Advisory Board member has unique skills and invaluable understanding of the needs of each member of the burn survivor community.

Since it’s inception in 2014, the Burn Survivor Resource Community’s main focus has been on creating a burn survivor community that is dedicated to offering a place where burn survivors can share their stories and find support and advice from other burn survivors and their loved ones. "With the forming of the new advisory board, including burn care professionals who help victims recover from their tragic accident, as well as burn survivors striving to make a difference, the community has reached a turning point,” says Gruen.

"We invite survivors and their families and loved ones to join our community”, added Gruen, “And we hope that it provides you with the information and compassion that every burn survivor deserves.

Remarkably in just over 2 years The Burn Survivor Resource Community has become the largest online community of burn survivors, with over 24,000 Instagram followers alone, who come together to share, care and carry one. Every burn survivor knows the devastation that results from a burn injury. The experience is not only traumatic, but it can cause people to feel isolated, depressed and afraid. Burn injuries can also put tremendous financial strain on survivors and their families.

It was with these challenges in mind that the Burn Survivor Resource Community was created to provide burn survivors, their families and their friends with a supportive and knowledgeable community.
